STI Testing

GOSHH offers free rapid tests for HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis-C with results in 10 minutes.

We do testing Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 9:30 – 4:00 and Wednesday: 11:30 – 4:00.

Some people are expecting a positive test, others know they have been at risk; others still get tested just because they want to and know that it is important to get tested regularly.

Whatever your reasons for testing is, you may be struggling to make the appointment and you may be finding it hard to talk about with your partner, family or friends. GOSHH provides a welcoming, non-clinical and non-judgemental environment for your rapid tests.

How long after exposure should you test for STIs?

Most STIs will not be detectable straight away. You should
wait at least 14 days before testing for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea. You should
wait at least 28 days before testing for HIV, Syphilis and Hepatitis-C.

The following are the window periods for each of the tests that we provide here at GOSHH, and how they will be administered.

Chlamydia = 14 days – Urine

Gonorrhoea = 14 days – Urine

HIV = 2-4 weeks – Blood

Syphilis = 14 days – Blood

Hepatitis-C = 28 days – Blood

If you are presenting with symptoms such as pain while passing urination, abnormal discharge, rashes near or on your genitals or any other discomfort, as GOSHH is not a clinical setting we will not be able to prescribe you medications and thus encourage to book your full STI Screening at the University Hospital Limerick by contacting them on, 061 482382.
