GOSHH provide a range of individualised training programmes for service providers and individuals in society including corporate organisations, public and private sector, youth organisations, statutory agencies, community and voluntary groups. Tailored Training Programmes offered include 1-2 hour workshops and one day programmes and are detailed below.

Certificate of Attendance/ CPD Credits
We provide a Certificate of Attendance detailing content and hours training provided to all participants. Applicants to your accrediting body can be made where relevant to obtain CPD credits.
Training Programmes
Gender and Orientation – One Day Professionals Training
The aim of our training is:
Support and equip professionals working with young people who identify as LGBTI+ with necessary tools to support and facilitate positive outcomes.
LGBTI+ Strategies highlight a number of key areas to enhance and address inclusion and best practice:
- Discrimination, victimisation, stigma and abuse.
- Difficulties coming out to family.
- Mental, physical and sexual health challenges.
Key learnings and outcomes from this training include:
- Building confidence to discuss and facilitate LGBTI+ issues.
- Increase capacity when supporting clients/service users who are LGBTI+.
- Identify and become familiar with best practice guidelines and policies.
- Learn to identify homophobic and transphobic behaviour.
- Build capacity to support individuals who are experiencing discrimination on the grounds of their gender and/or orientation.
- Explore how gender and orientation impacts the experience of individuals in society.
Brief description of exercises used to equip participants with appropriate knowledge.
- Introduction of GOSHH services and referral pathways.
- Introduction to Gender Bias.
- Examination of gender stereotypes – exploring and deepening our awareness and how it influences our lives and the lives of service users and clients.
- Common terms relating to Gender, orientation and sex characteristics.
- Impact of oppressive language on individuals.
- Coming out stories.
- Case Studies and role plays to demonstrate and develop learning.
The workshop uses facilitated discussion, participatory learning and personal development to embed learning. Methodologies include large and small group work, individual reflection, group discussion, audio visuals and PowerPoint presentations.
Gender and Orientation – 1 hour workshop
GOSHH provide a participative, person centred, facilitated session using slides and informative pointers to enable participants to understand the experience of LGBTI+ people.
It is a space to ask questions, explore current practice and evaluate societal influences on our gender or orientation. During the session the basics of working with and understanding the experience of LGBTI+ people is given focus and space to explore.
Some of the key learning goals of the session include:
- Building confidence to facilitate LGBTI+ discussions
- Increase capacity to create safe spaces for LGBTI+ people
- Learn to identify Homophobic & Transphobic behaviour
- Explore how gender and orientation impacts the experience of individuals in society.
